Inside your knee, there are small fluid-filled cushions called bursae.
They reduce friction between muscles and bones — just like oil in a machine.
One such bursa is located on the inner side of your knee, just below the joint.
When this bursa gets inflamed due to stress or overuse, it leads to:
➡ Pain on the inner side of the knee
➡ Tenderness when touched
➡ Pain while climbing stairs
➡ Difficulty sitting cross-legged
➡ Discomfort during walking
This condition is called Pes Anserine Bursitis.
Who Commonly Gets It?
This condition is very common in:
✔ Middle-aged women
✔ People who are overweight
✔ Diabetic patients
✔ People with knee arthritis
✔ Those who sit cross-legged frequently
✔ People who suddenly increase walking or exercise
It is especially common in people above 40 years.
✅ Do’s
Apply ice pack for 10–15 minutes if swelling is present
Perform prescribed stretching exercises daily
Maintain healthy body weight
Wear proper footwear
Avoid prolonged standing
❌ Don’ts
Avoid sitting cross-legged for long periods
Avoid climbing stairs repeatedly
Do not ignore persistent knee pain
Avoid sudden twisting movements
Avoid self-medication without advice
Most people think, “It’s just weakness…” “It’s because I’m getting older…” “It will go away on its own…” But sometimes, the real reason could be something called Pes Anserine Bursitis.
Consult a healthcare professional before starting exercises.
